Delta Jet AS-III
The Delta Jet AS-III is a weight-shift-control-land (WSCL also known as trikes) Light Sport Aircraft (LSA) that complies with the ASTM standards for this category of aircraft and has been certified under FAA's Sport Pilot rule as a Special-Light Sport Aircraft (S-LSA). AS-III offers incredible performance for this category with cruising speeds upto 80 MPH and top speeds reaching 100 MPH at full gross weight. Options such as color glass cockpit (Enigma), panel mounted radio, panel mounted intercom, mode C transponder and lights suitable for night flight make properly equipped versions of this trike suitable for WSC private pilot looking to fly not only during the day but also at night.
Delta Jet's sleek lines not only look fast, it is fast. One of the fastest trikes in the trike industry. Its lite, sporty and balanced handling regardless of weight makes it a triker's trike. One foot off the ground you will start to fall in love with the feel of this trike in flight, so fly at your own risk. You may end up buying one. Yet it is simple to fly. There are no special things a triker needs to know to fly this trike. Its stable ground handling, solid, sporty, performance feel with little to no wind on your head, will make you feel like you are in a sports car rather than a trike and you would not be far off.

Three hydraulic disc brakes give immense stopping capability. The custom designed two into one stainless steel exhausts provide a throaty roar and can expand and contract in all directions relieving all stress points that can cause cracks. The choice of wings between H12, Profi and Manta Ray finish the package in different flavors for different flying styles. Best part is that you can have this trike certified with one wing and later decide to buy another of the three certified wings and change them out without any hassles with a simple change of weight and loading document.
Wing Choices:
You will not find better handling wings whether you are into doing trike cross-country, flights around the patch for sport, mid day flying with convection turbulence and thermals or simply a little bit of everything. It would be very hard to beat the choices of combinations offered by us and to match the delightful handling offered by these wings on our trikes.

Safety:
One may get the impression that Delta Jet is a sleek trike that perhaps is not as robust. Be assured that under the sleek aerodynamic abode is one strong triangulated tubalar structure that surpasses ASTM compliant load tests; put together with metric class 8.8 hardware that is custom plated. The main landing gear is one piece 7075 T-6 Aluminum solid leaf gear similar to what you'd find on many GA airplanes.
One of the most important safety aspects of the trike in flight is the wing and all three wings exceed ASTM design standard requirements and two have also passed the DULV German certification. To further keep the fleet safe, a fully documented manual set and bulletins for safety directives and service are part of the on-going airworthiness regimen.
There is a curtis quick drain valve for fuel drainage and pre-flight fuel contamination check under the trike and back seat instructor secondary engine mags are standard on all Delta Jet AS-III along with Aero-Tuff ASTM compliant seat belts and re-coil shoulder harness. A windshield is standard on all Delta Jet AS-III trikes. Back steering (removable) comes standard and a cruise hand throttle reachable from the back seat for instructor along with regular trike pilot foot throttle is standard in every machine. There are circuit breakers in all 2007 versions to isolate eletrical faults. Optionally FAR 23 lighting (position plus anti-collision lights in one) can be installed on wheelpant fins for safety and visibility. Fuel lines in the engine area are protected with FAA approved high heat shielding. All fuel lines use AeroEquip hoses and fittings.
The color EFIS option can do a terrain look ahead and provides terrain warnings. It can also provide detailed 3D wire mesh view of the terrain. Imagine going into Eastern Tennessee and being able to see mountains ahead before you reach them. That's a feature you'd have trouble finding in the trike market. Imagine having a blackbox recorder for selcted portions of your flight that records all your engine and GPS parameters and then can be re-played on a PC showing your track and engine parameters over Google Earth in 3D.
These are powerful cross country flight tools that puts AS-III ahead of the game while the rest of the trike market tries to follow without looking like they are copying us. This is simply not just another "fast trike". Apollo North America provides a full set of tools that make the life of a cross country trike flier truly easier.
We highly recommend the Ballistic Recovery System full aircraft parachute system. As a last resort in a catastrophic situation, shut the engine and pull the handle to come down at a relatively low rate of descent and save your life.
Engines:
Delta Jet is offered with the following ASTM compliant engines:

All fuel lines under the engine top cowling are shielded with fire proof shielding, beyond what's required to comply with ASTM standard
Propellers:
There are two props offered with our trikes:
Avionics, lighting, electrical wiring harness and choices:
Delta Jet AS-III comes standard with Stratomaster Ultra XL monochrome glass panel that provides everything from engine monitoring to fuel flow calculation to all VFR flight instruments. All engine sensors culminate cleanly at a remote unit called the RDAC (Remote Data Acquisition Computer) that is located closer to the engine and then one data cable runs from the the RDAC to the actual panel screen that carries data in serialized binary format. Ultra XL allows a user to remove items that are not needed on the screen and change position of the items on the screen as well as change some fonts on the screen. For more information on Stratomaster Ultra XL please take a look at this link.

But that's not where things end. At least not for Delta Jet trikers.
Color EFIS:
This option makes being able to see the instruments a snap because of contrast and flashes a light when a parameter is out of bounds. An aviation GPS and True Airspeed calculation is included in the Enigma color EFIS. In addition the EFIS provides a fuel flow sensor that allows you to monitor your fuel burn per hour and 9 different fully programmable easy to use screens. Want to set frequency of your factory installed Apollo aircraft radio from the glass panel and are not even sure what the frequency of the ATIS is of this close-by airport? Click here to see how you can accomplish that using the glass cockpit easily. Too much to list here. Nothing packs in as many features for such a small upgrade price. This option is also one of the options required for night VFR operation for the WSC-Land private pilot.

Programmable screens. A sample VFR screen shown. Take a close look at the engine monitoring bar graphs. They are EASY to see at a glance with yellow overlay indicating currnt reading over a green and red (caution) area. This is much different than engine monitors offered in many planes that are monochrome and you have to actually read your oil temperature and know the range in numbers for your engine. Upto 9 different programmable screens available at a touch of a button. Use what suits the current flight requirements with "ease" and switch in a second if needed with changing requirements.

Aviation GPS with Terrain Awareness

Highway In The Sky (HITS) to guide you where you want to go at any altitude (requires optional AHRS sensor)
Both ways you get beautifully crafted aircraft grade wiring harness made with tefzel coated aircraft wire and milspec crimps that runs all the way from the engine compartment to all avionics. The wiring harness is protected with on dash circuit breakers for every single component. A ground seeking aircraft master solonoid shuts everything cold for safety. These characteristics are not so common in your every day garden variety trike. Not even some of the most expensive trikes offer such aircraft standard craftsmanship and avionics choices.

Panel options:
Panel options available for the Delta Jet AS-III lead the industry in this category of aircraft. You will simply not find these choices in state of the art elsewhere. These include, color EFIS with aviation GPS built-in, AHRS sensor for the color EFIS for attitude and turn and bank indication, MicroAir T2000 mode C transponder, MicroAir M760 transciever radio or XCOM transciever radio that can work on changing frequencies from color EFIS screen, panel mounted intercom from Flycom UK if provided by the customer before delivery.
Please note that Flycom UK does not have dealers and sells direct to customers. As such we recommend that customers buy this excellent open cockpit communication system directly from Flycom UK and send it to us so that we can install the intercom in for you. The intercom interfaces via a custom wiring harness with the transcievers.
